With the participation of over 35 local manufacturers last year and nearly 500 active job seekers our 2007 Job Fair was a great success. Funds that were raised through our inaugural job fair were used to pay for learning materials and scholarships for manufacturing students at two local universities. This year we hope to have over 40 manufacturing employers with over 20 already committed.
The Manufacturing Industry Job Fair is scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2008in the Purdue University Calumet Gymnasium from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. The event is open to community members, PUC students and alumni.

This individual will participate on a team of software engineers to architect, design, develop, install and maintain software applications created to intelligently assist in the placement of Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS). These sensors are used in surveillance missions as well as critical infrastructure support. Specific technical areas include 3D visualization, decision support algorithms, RF communication algorithms, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial foundation datasets (raster maps and imagery as well as vector terrain and feature data).Responsibilities include full lifecycle tasks including software design, development, and support for integration and test efforts. Intern/Part-Time Design Engineering Position

Gooder-Henrichsen Company is seeking to fill intern or part-time positions in our Engineering Department. Gooder-Henrichsen designs and fabricates open web steel joists and joist girders per the Steel Joist Institute (SJI) standard specifications and is an active member of SJI. This opening is for our Chicago Heights, Illinois facility. Responsibilities for this position include designing joists and girders and assisting our sales staff with interpreting project specifications. Applicants should have completed basic engineering courses such as Engineering Statics and Engineering Calculus. Good communication skill and self motivators are also valued. ME Interships at Weil-McLain, Michigan City, IN

A late summer internshipthru the end of August and/or into the Fall is available. The candidate should be a student with an ME degree who has some experience with Fluid Mechanic, Thermal Dynamics, Metallurgy and/or mineral processing.
The internship would be full time for the summer and pays $15/hour. However, we'd be able to work with the student's schedule if they are taking a class or two over summer.
